Life can throw us some very difficult challenges at times and it’s not always easy to face these alone. You might be feeling lost? confused? alone? overwhelmed? depressed? anxious? or something that you just can’t quite put your finger on? Counselling can help bring clarity and change to your situation and your life. The work that we do together will allow you the time and space to understand yourself better on a journey towards acceptance, self compassion, change and growth; Improving the relationship that you have with yourself and with others.
There is no ‘one size fits all’, each client is unique and individual with different experiences. I tailor each session to your personal needs, working alongside you, at your pace, on the things that matter to you the most. I can offer you a supportive, safe and confidential space in which to explore your concerns in a non-judgmental therapeutic relationship. Practical and solution focussed tools and techniques can be offered to help break unhelpful cycles and patterns in a way to empower you and together we can identify the changes that you might want to make to help you find your own answers that work for you. If you have no idea where to start I can offer support and guidance to you to help identify the core root of your anxieties and issues in order to create lasting change.
I have a wide range of experience of counselling people of all ages with a variety of emotional, social, relational and mental health issues. I am qualified and experienced in working with Adults, Children and Young People.
I regularly attend training to update and enhance my therapeutic skills and have additional training and qualifications in many areas, including CBT, ‘Rewind’ Trauma Technique, Miscarriage and Infant Loss, Compassion Focussed Therapy, Therapeutic Play and Couples Counselling etc.
I have a particular interest in bereavement, loss and grief. This can come from various life events including the death of a loved one; the ending of a relationship; the loss of self or independence through illness, disability or caring for another; and even changes to your career, status, role etc. Traumatic losses and traumatic life events can be very difficult to deal with alone and I am able to join you on your journey towards healing through a trauma informed practice.
Throughout my own life experience I have developed a keen interest in expanding my knowledge around women’s health issues including menopause, fertility and hormonal issues. I support people to navigate these times of physical, emotional and mental change. Therapy can help you to explore your own personal challenges and help you to make decisions or changes that you feel are right for you and to develop some acceptance around things that cannot be changed.
I am also experienced in working with clients who have long-term physical conditions, chronic pain, disability, life limiting conditions and end of life care. Having a safe and supportive space to explore the many emotions, anxieties and fears that may arise can help you to manage your physical symptoms, come to terms with your situation and find a sustainable balance to help you to find a way to live your best life.
In addition to my work and years of experience as a Person-Centred Psychotherapist at Core Counselling and Psychotherapy in Preston, I also have over 20 years of experience supporting individuals across a variety of roles including:
– Specialist Mental Health Mentor
– School Counsellor
– Family Support Worker
– Support Worker for individuals with a physical and or learning disability
